The Transition to Bitless Riding presentations I did at Equitana in Melbourne recently were a huge success and attended by lots of people looking at riding bitless. With the help of Nelly Jaehne and her young nieces, Nadia and Annie, we showed all the steps to train or transition to a bitless bridle. These are especially important for green horses and riders as many educated horses have no problems with changing over to a bitless bridle. The two horses who helped demonstrate the groundwork tasks then how it translated to riding, were a 3yo Clydy x Friesian gelding and a 2yo Gypsy Cob colt so their educaiton was just beginning. The work we had done with them and the girls paid off when the PA system unexpectedly went crazy with lots of loud noise that scared the horses, but the girls kept perfect control with the use of the hindquarter yield they had been practising - until it became an automatic response which is what keeps a bitless rider (or any rider for that matter) safe and in control. Interest from the two 45 minute presentations translated into lots of LightRider Bitless Bridle sales so I'm sure there will be many more happier horses out there enjoying the comfort of bitless and giving their riders a much nicer riding experience as a result. Finally.... I've had the help to film the first lot of videos for fitting the LightRider bitless bridles. I'm sure they will help those who understand things better by seeing them in action. You can see these on the Fitting Instructions page.
Cynthia Cooper will be doing two 45 minute presentations on bitless riding - they are scheduled for Thursday the 18th Nov. at 3pm in the John Deere Demo Arena 3 and Friday the 19th Nov. at 10am in the Epsom Demo Arena 2. Cynthia, with the help of two young horses belonging to fellow Tasmanian, Nelly Jaehne, will explain how you can transition or start your horse in a bitless bridle safely, and why you would want to do that. This is the first time that Bitless Riding presentations have been offered at Equitana so don't miss the oportunity to learn more about the bitless bridles. Cynthia will also be selling her LightRider Bitless Bridles, slow feeder haynets etc. and giving free advice at the Natural Horse World booth 409 in the Epsom Pavillion for the whole 4 days of Equitana - Nov. 18-21st in Melbourne. The new Equestrian Expo arena at Agfest (a 3 day Agricultural Expo that attracts 70,000 people in Tasmania), drew unanimous praise from the horse community. The olympic size sand dressage arena provided the ideal display area for all types of horsemanship and my demos on 'How to Select, Fit and Use a Bitless Bridle' were well received. Many thanks to Nikki and Spike, plus Joylene and Anawa, Tori and Wally for being my demo riders and horses. There will be may more happy horses and riders from those who purchased bitless bridles and hopefully many more people will understand a lot more about what going bitless involves. Below: Tori and Wally with Joylene and Anawa who is the sire of Wally, jump in their bitless bridles during the demo. Lots happening in the bitless world 16/04/2010
Its interesting how if you focus on something long and hard enough things really start to happen. As my passion is to help the world be a better place for horses through education and equipment - I've started instructing again. This time its to do Bitless Riding workshops - where people who haven't delved deep into natural horsemanship, or who would like to know so much more about bitless can participate. Our first workshop was a practice run so we kept it small - we being myself and fellow passionate bitless instructors Scilla and Melissa. The next one will be on May 29th at Equus Euestrian Centre, Sandford, Tasmania then the plan is to have one in June in the north of the State. In the meantime, Agfest (Tasmania's biggest rural expo attracting over 70,000 people) is having an Equestrian Expo this year so of course I'll be there and am scheduled to do a Bitless Riding Demo at 10am and 3pm daily. It's on the 6th, 7th and 8th of May so if you live in Tassie, it will be a good time to check out Agfest again. In my demos I'll be showing how to select, fit and use a bitless bridle for a horse that hasn't been educated to bitless while Joylene will rider her lovely coloured stallion, Anawa, to show some more advanced moves. I look forward to seeing you there! I'm pleased to announce that the deluxe biothane bitless nosebands are now available in pony size to fit ponies from 14hh down to 11hh (or measuring 46-56cm/18-22" around the nose 3 fingers below the cheekbones). They come in black or dark brown with stainless steel fittings and you can purchase one from the online shop at the special introductory price of $59. For those who love leather - you will need to be patient! I hope to have these in early June. Bitless Bridle Education at Equitana 22/03/2010
I am so EXCITED!! I've just received confirmation that I have been accepted as one of the educators for Equitana 2010 in Melbourne, held between November 18th to 21st. This means I get to do a 45 minute presentation at least once a day on Bitless Bridles and Bitless Riding - the first time this topic has been presented at Equitana in Australia. I have booth 409 booked in the main pavillion and am planning on having a huge range of the LightRider Bitless Bridles on sale there. Hope you can come and say hello and keep an eye open for the program times to see the Education session I'll be presenting on How to select, fit and use a Bitless Bridle. | AuthorHi, I'm Cynthia Cooper - inventor of the LightRider Bitless Bridle.
