Small Pony size: 9-11.2hh (90-117cm)
Pony size:11-13.2hh (112-137cm)
Cob (Arab) size: 13.2-15.1hh (137cm to 152cm)
Full (Horse) size:15.2-17hh (152cm to 173cm)
Warmblood/draft size: solid 17-18hh (173cm to 183cm)
1: Around the nose (3-4 fingers below the cheekbones
– as shown at 1a).
2: Over the poll (head) from each side of the noseband.
- You could also measure your current bridle or halter, and it is important to take into account the size of bridle/halter your horse currently wears, especially if the measurements are borderline.
- Eg. a 15hh horse may have measurements in the lower end of the full size, but would be better in a cob size (if the noseband measures in the cob range) so the cheek piece buckles don't sit too high towards the eye.
- It's best to go with the bridle that has the no. 2 measurement in the middle of the range.
